What’s been going on and what I’m planning to do with this site

I wanted to make a post here to kinda go over my plans for this site and the Youtube channel going into the future. This is sorta an update to the post I made in July explaining how I was considering starting to use this site and make some posts here that may be non gaming related.

So, first, let me give you a bit of backstory. Over the years, I have had this site and used the VideoGameSource (VGS) name in a variety of ways. Some really cool old school sites and message boards have been hosted here (and they will continue to remain up!). Around 2014, I made a Youtube channel with mostly gaming guides and walkthroughs using the VideoGameSource name at http://www.youtube.com/VideoGameSource This channel did pretty well and currently has right around 4 million total views. I felt it was really cool at the time to use the VGS name for a Youtube channel considering the history of this site and I liked making gaming content again. However, I didn’t have the time to fully commit to releasing gaming videos and stopped creating videos around 2017.

At the start of 2017, I had an opportunity to start selling full-time as a merchant on Amazon.com. I’ve always had an interest in flipping cool collectible stuff online. One of my hobbies is actually following online deal sites to try to get the best deals on the things I buy. So, this was a natural fit for me. I started to learn about how to find cool items to resell from thrift stores, garage sales, and other online sites. I was able to pretty quickly scale this business up and it has become very successful for me. Plus, I’m enjoying working on this business more than any other job I have ever had before!

In 2018, I started posting a little on Instagram and sharing some of the strategies I was using as well as to document the progress of my business. I quickly loved doing this as I’ve always enjoyed making guides and discussing strategies whether it be in video games or business. For my Instagram name, I decided to do a throwback to this site and Youtube channel and go by @VideoGameSourcing (http://www.instagram.com/VideoGameSourcing) This made sense to me because a lot of what I sell is video games as well as cool collectibles and toys.

Anyway, from my posting on Instagram, it made me want to once again create some longer form guides and videos about the business of reselling. I went back and forth on whether to create a new site/Youtube channel for this content or to use this one. I decided I wanted to use this site and Youtube channel once again to host this content because I feel it would be a cool throwback to how I got started. I’m planning to post some guides here like how to flip video games online but also will probably cover some very business oriented topics that may not have direct relevance to gaming. It might seem weird to have this type of content on a video game site / video game Youtube channel but I think the weirdness of that may actually end up being a benefit, lol.

So, I just wanted to post this here as a final warning about what is to come. I don’t think too many people actually visit this site anymore and I promise to keep the old sites hosted here untouched. As far as the Youtube channel, I probably won’t be posting anything there right away but may make a quick video like this post explaining the transition. The Youtube channel will actually be a little harder to transition since there are tons of gaming videos there and the only people who visit that channel are looking for gaming related content. Plus, that channel still gets a good number of daily views from the guides posted there. We’ll see how it goes! I don’t have anything ready right away to post here but wanted to write this up to clear up the type of content that will be posted here in the future!

Thanks for reading!
